CLAY 3D PRINTING AND MOLDS/CASTING
In this module you will learn how to properly use the Clay 3D Printer and materials for mold-making and casting located in the DBL across the street from the Architecture Building.

Fabrication involves the process of creating objects or structures by shaping and assembling materials. In this module, students can expect to explore various specialized techniques, including clay printing, biobased printing, concrete sculpture, plaster mold making, silicone rubber, and vacuum forming. They will learn how to use these methods to bring their creative ideas to life, working with materials like clay, biodegradable substances, concrete, plaster, and silicone rubber.

SEQUENCE
In this module, students should expect to explore a diverse range of advanced fabrication techniques and materials, including clay printing, biobased printing, concrete sculpture, plaster mold making, silicone rubber, and vacuum forming. Through practical hands-on projects and demonstrations, students will develop the skills necessary to utilize these technologies for creative and functional purposes.

MOLDS AND CASTING // A1

VACUUM FORMER | PLASTER CASTING
During this section the students will learn to create molds using the vacuum former and utilizing this mold to cast plaster as the primary material. This assignment teaches safe and effective operation of the FormechTM 660 vacuum forming machine at Ball State University. The students will be guided though the preparation of plaster and the mold for casting.
PROGRAMMING // A2

RHINO
In the programming assignment, students are expected to explore the process of 3D printing using Rhino as your modeling software. They will learn a few ways to create a vessel that can be taken to the next process in this module for clay 3D printing.
3D PRINTING // A3

CLAY
In the clay printing assignment, students are expected to explore the process of 3D printing using clay as the printing material. They will learn about the technology, tools, and techniques involved in clay printing furthering their knowledge base with 3D printing gained in module 3.

BIO-BASED MATERIALS
The assignment on biobased printing expects students to explore the use of sustainable and renewable materials in the printing process. Students will study biobased materials understanding their environmental benefits and applications. Practical demonstrations and case studies will enable students to implement biobased printing techniques and comprehend their role in reducing the environmental impact of printing processes.
