CAP Fab Labs is the fabrication and industrial design infrastructure of the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University. We operate five facilities dedicated to digital fabrication, woodworking, large-format output, and advanced manufacturing. We provide services for students, faculty, and staff across all CAP programs.
Our facilities support experiential learning at every stage of a student’s education, from required first-year woodshop training to advanced CNC routing, plasma cutting, and waterjet fabrication. Every lab is designed to connect digital design skills with physical making, with Rhino 3D as the common thread across workflows.

The Team Behind It
Makercorps
Makercorps is the student-led team that operates and manages CAP’s fabrication facilities. We’re not a help desk, we’re a community of makers who share what we know. Our team includes students, staff, and faculty working together across all six facilities.
- Operate a wide range of hardware, software, and manual tools on behalf of the CAP and broader BSU community
- Train others to use CAP resources through documentation, modules, seminars, and workshops
- Work on special projects internally and in the broader community
- Support the East Central Indiana maker community
